The Commodore 64, also known as the C64, C=64, C-64, CBM 64 and VIC 64 is a computer made by Commodore International. The C64 was released in 1982 and has been estimated to have sold between 12.5 to 17 million units. Throughout its lifespan which lasted until April 1994, thousands of programs have been developed for the system in several different formats. On release, the Commodore 64 had a retail price of US $595 (approx $1500 nowadays).
